Corporate Paranormal Romance Books: The Office Meets What We Do in the Shadows

Okay y’all, corporate paranormal romance is officially my newest favorite genre, and I need everyone to know about it. Picture The Office meets What We Do in the Shadows…a corporate office workplace, but half the cast is secretly a vampire, demon, or something with fangs that filed the wrong paperwork. That’s corporate paranormal romance in a nutshell, and once you start looking for it, you cannot stop craving more.

Think about it. A cryptid management company where the heroine takes a desk job to escape the danger her Warden dad died doing, only to fall into monster hunting anyway. A life insurance office where the receptionist discovers that her uptight boss is a demon hunter and hell has an entrance in Times Square. A tech startup marketing manager whose demon-slaying mother crashes her attempt to hide a literal demon from HR. A workplace where the new hire being trained for a promotion happens to be a vampire pretending to be human. A dating app company run by vampires trying to keep their matched couples from becoming dinner.

That’s five corporate paranormal romance books, and I’m obsessed with every single one.

But here’s my problem: I can only find just these few corporate paranormal romance books that actually nail this combination of office politics, monster mayhem, and slow burn tension. Just five! In a genre this fun and deliciously specific (I mean, aren’t a ton of us corporate drones anyway?!), there should be dozens! I want boardrooms with hidden trapdoors to hell. I want performance reviews conducted by werewolves. I want office rivalries that end in fated mate bonds.

Publishers, if you’re reading this, PLEASE give me more corporate paranormal romance! I am begging.

Alexys took a desk job at Entity, the company that manages the world’s cryptids, hoping to honor her dad’s legacy as a Warden without risking her life like he did. But when one of her Wardens vanishes while investigating a dangerous monster, her promotion and her conscience are on the line.

She heads into the Appalachian wilderness to find him, only to be trailed by Nic, her infuriating (and infuriatingly hot) work rival with his own agenda. Turns out the mountains have far worse secrets than jackalopes and ghouls waiting after dark.

I Hope This Email Finds You in Hell by Mackenzie Reed

Brie Benson’s numbing routine as a receptionist gets upended when she catches her hot, uptight boss Luke performing an exorcism on a coworker after hours. Sworn to secrecy, she learns Luke’s a demon hunter and demonic activity is surging. When her coworker vanishes, Brie talks her way into Luke’s rescue mission, straight through a portal to hell hidden in Times Square.

Now they’re racing through a bureaucratic underworld of monsters to save their colleague and mend a tearing veil, all before their growing feelings become irrelevant and hell claims them for good.

Startup Hell by Caitlin Rozakis

Morgan Blackwater is the underachieving daughter of a demon-slaying Shadow Council wizard, content to muddle through her job at a directionless tech startup instead. Then she finds her boss dead from a botched demon summoning, and the demon he tried to trade his soul to, Luke, stuck here until someone else takes the deal.

While hiding Luke from her formidable mother, Morgan gets dragged into the Infernal Plane, a literal corporate nightmare, and escapes only by promising a soul in return. She won’t sacrifice a coworker, but her startup’s insufferable CEO seems like fair game.

Fangs With Benefits by Kath Richards

Molly Mason gets passed over for a promotion in favor of an outside hire, then gets stuck training him, a man who can barely use a computer but is infuriatingly gorgeous. What Molly doesn’t know is that Elijah Thorne is a vampire faking his way through human life and human employment, and she’s the one colleague he can’t fool.

When she uncovers his secret, they strike a deal: she’ll teach him to pass as human if he helps her land that promotion. But their arrangement turns colleagues-with-benefits, and keeping things professional gets a lot more complicated.

Swipe Bite by Alexandra Vasti

Vampire heir Sophronia Vega has built her life around HemoCorp, especially Stokr, the dating app that safely matches vampires with humans. When the app’s matching tech goes haywire and vampires start draining their dates, her carefully controlled world falls apart. Casey Amato, the human engineer behind Stokr, suspects sabotage, not a glitch, and needs Sophronia to believe someone close to her is responsible.

As the exec and the engineer team up to catch the traitor, their attraction ignites, and with the app down, giving in could be lethal.
